Invisible Children

Image and Idea
Project #4: Charity Poster
Create a poster for a non-profit charitable organization.

I asked several of my friends what organizations they were particularly passionate about, and the one that caught my attention most was Invisible Children. Three 20-something year-old film graduates set out for Africa to make a documentary about the conflict in Sudan. Never having made a documentary before, their tale is innocently told through their amateur photography. Unable to enter Sudan, the three boys remained in Uganda where they discovered the subject for their documentary.

Hundreds of children, every night, fled their villages in order to sleep in safe houses, hospitals, or public parks. These children fled rebels who would capture kids as young as five (big enough to carry a gun, small enough to steal other children) and turn them into child soldiers.

Once the young filmmakers had returned to the United States, they sent their documentary out en mass. What I found the most inspiring about the organization is that it empowers and encourages young children, teenagers, and students, to let their voices be heard about something they are passionate about.

Help stop child abductions and forced servitude of children. Visit InvisibleChildren.com to see how you can make a difference.
